Google Tools About To Stop Working…
Google is testing using Ajax to deliver it’s search results…
Who cares?
Web Trends Blog : Google Testing Ajax, What’s that mean to me?
Omniture: Google Testing Ajax In Web Results
Search Engine Land: Google AJAX Search Results = Death To Search Term Tracking?
Search Engine Watch: Google Testing New Technology
Webmaster World: Google Ajax Powered Results Kill Referals
Every internet marketer! Trust me, this is a neat development in the
coder world, but a horrible development in the world of simple SEO strategists.
You see, Google’s results are generic HTML & Text as things have always been
since it’s inception in 1998. All the tools, rank checkers and software out there that
rely on being able to harness these results will break.
Tools like Web Position Gold, Internet Business Promoter, and SpyFu could
die off not being able to scrape the results from the search giant’s pages.
This means a great deal for the industry of competitive intelligence.
Anyway… Stay in touch. I’ll keep you updated as things progress.

Want to understand more about this *huge* development? Aaron Wall has
written a really juicy Post in his blog about how this whole situation could play
out, and why you should worry about It. See: Ad Networks Hoarding Publisher
Data For Profit
P.S. This industry is about to start changing rapidly. You’re currently
reading a website that is probably one of 5 sites ahead of the curve.
Sincerely,
Daniel J Deyette

Hey, Dan!
Yikes! Looks like information is becoming more restricted not more open. Not a good sign…
Wonder how this will affect keyword research?
Thanks
Scott
Your not kidding. Keyword research will be affected in the sense that it’ll be a ton harder for tools like Aaron Wall’s “SEO for Firefox” might not easily show you the competitiveness of the SEO realm. However, perhaps they’ll be nice enough to let us in with the API and not be too stingy on who can use it and for what purposes. No one’s gaining a quick edge even with the tools that are out there, so it’s no biggy to leave the world’s access to it alone.
Hey Dan,
Do you think google analytics will have the inside track on handling AJAX? Seems like they would coordinate the AJAX launch so that their own product would be the most competitive in the marketplace
That’s what everybody says so far… But, others are nervously saying “Google was just… Testing!”
